Izmir Sustainability Center (S-Hub) Within the Framework of Sustainable and Ecological Landscape Design Approaches

Abstract

It was decided to reorganize the existing structure of the coastal area and its immediate surroundings within the scope of the Izmir Sustainability Center (S-Hub), located in Turan District of Bayraklı District, with a design competition opened by the local administration. The area at the intersection of land and sea areas must be designed with an improvement-development approach, considering its potential to be included in sustainable networks/systems in the city and become a hub/resistance point. In the light of these facts, in the study handled within the framework of sustainable and ecological landscape planning and design approaches, ecological rehabilitation and renovation opportunities of the urban landscape were determined within the framework of aesthetic and bioengineering principles.
